MS to replace Live with Bing

Microsoft is soon going to unveil its new search engine named Bing. It will replace the current search platform, Live. So far MS has constantly staggered behind Google in the search market. It always tries to catch on but Google in no way looks to relent and take a breath in this race. Google continues to be the leader in the game with 64% share of US search market!

Bing at its core is a decision engine which intially aims at users trying to find something related to shopping, travel, health & local business. It’s not that it will not respond to other search terms, it will. Nevertheless, users trying to find something in above 4 categories will feel a richer experience. I have still to try hands on it as after the intial rollout they have taken it back and all you can see now is the video.

Let’s see how it shapes itself up for the users who are waiting to try hands on it. Only time will tell whether it’s going to present stiff competition to Google or the bubble will burst like Cuil

Congress back at Center

In the recent election for parliament, Congress came back to power. Almost month long election which was divided in phases had thrown result which is unexpected as well as expected for some group of people.

Congress came back strongly winning more than 200 seats, it holds stronger command now in the Indian democracy as well as over its allies. I am happy with this, coz I support Congress. No one else has the capability when I start seeing the candidates to run a government in these times or whenever. Congress has a rich and taleneted pool of people who are well educated and deserve to run ministries and the country! More than that, it is not a party with illogical ideologies like communist parties who are hell bent on development at most of the times or like BJP which will sink to the bottom in near future due to its hard core ideologies and Hindutva poll gimmicks, which it propels only at election times! What makes this difference more stark is that, when you see BJP I can’t even see a single young face, except Varun Gandhi who should not be coutned, as he has no ideology! He knows nothing when it comes to governance! All he can do is give hate speeches and do the same when he comes to power in come ministry (which I pray happens never). When a party fails to have any young candidate in its front-line, it was supposed to doom in this election! This is what happened. BJP’s online gimmicks did not work out and neither did Modi came to help! I am not sure what they were trying to prove with all those comments against congress, writing slogans to defame a party instead of writing slogans to further its own agendas; thanking congress for slumdog as they said congress was responsible for slums in first place! Had the high command devoted quality time on thinking other issues, they would have noticed that young gen is gonna participate in this festival in big numbers this time and we are not having even a single  young candidate who can capture minds! All they had was people who were gonna have their last shots! Well, here is the verdict people! India will prefer to be run by Manmohan Singh, no matter they portray him as a proxy, he and his team mates ran the government successfully for last 5 years and they will do it again!

Emotions, Ah those damn emotions

Being an emotional and sentimental idot, which I am, pain has a special affection for me. It hunts me down and then tracks the leverage it can have against me to torment me. At times, I foil those attempts, but they can be counted on my finger tips. Mostly, I fall to my hunter as a lame prey who tries its best to foil every attempt of being hunter.

These emotions come in kicks to me. I develop a sense of indifference to things, people, attitudes and environment and then at some other moment, I start falling for something. May be it’s my failure to see other good things, but I know I am a person who gets attached (emotinally attached) to things and peopl easily. I have understood that its very necessary to control your emtions to excel in life, to rise above this pain, to live completely and happily and to enjoy other things. You know, what’s most important, when you can devlop a resistance to emotion – you will feel a never ending spirit inside you to discover and foray in new and uncharted territories. When you don’t hold yourself to something, you will enjoy everthing to the fullest. The reason is that, when you are attached to something more than you need, there’s a sense of fear of loosing that thing and it will constantly remind you of its existence and you will be strained at times, thinking that what will happen to you when you’ll loose it! That feeling needs to be tamed. This is what Lord Krishna meant, when he says in Geeta that “What is it that you brought with you to this world, and what is it that you will take with you from this world” . He didn’t just meant about physical things, he also meant about emotions, feelings, attachment.

I am no expert at this psychology, but this is the first hand short account of how I take it.
